Using the Superfood MACA Powder

maca

Healthy Living With Nature

The unique superfood power of MACA

At our home we add many things to our morning green smoothie which we find healthy and very yummy indeed. I am going to tell you about our smoothie ingredients and what they do for us. You will need to experiment with these superfoods and find out what your needs are and what suits your taste and lifestyle. These are only suggestions and what suits our family. You need to make the final decision.

The superfood for today is MACA

MACCA is sometimes called "Peruvian Ginseng." It is an ancient food source and herbal medicine from the Andes region. It has a rich supply of nutrients - including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids and sterols.

If you are familiar with the supplement industry you may be aware of MACA already.  It is derived from the root of the MACA plant.
Inhabitants of the Andes are said to have used this plant for its supposed fertility enhancing ingredients over many generations. It's said that MACA has the ability to increase energy, mental clarity, restore hormone imbalance, and enhance sex drive.
According to Thenaturalnutritionist.com.au it is perfectly safe to experiment using small amounts of MACA.
Simply add a teaspoon to your smoothie or porridge. Enjoy the taste and benefits.

The Latest research on MACA

Many studies have been done on MACA. However the most significant research has been done on the effects on glands in the endocrine system, especially sexual performance, function, fertility, libido, menopausal and andropausal symptoms - anxiety and depression, osteoporosis, effects on the central nervous system and lots more. A Special Day

Treasures In The Garden

Every day is a special occasion.......

We should not save anything for a special occasion:
Everyday we wake up is a special occasion.

There are things that we have not yet seen.
There are things we have seen and done
and not realized they were special.

Savour, not endure. Try to recognize the special moments and cherish them.

We must not take tomorrow for granted ....
see old friends we haven't seen in ages
Call family,
 Apologize, mend fences,
Write that special letter,
Tell our family and partner that we LOVE them
....add laughter and lustre to our lives
when we open our eyes and realize "today is SPECIAL!"

Everyday, every hour, every minute, every second is a gift!

That's what makes every day so SPECIAL!

....... because we are ALIVE!

My word for today is "SPECIAL!"

Healthy Living With Nature

More of the good stuff

In 2013 we went to Singapore to holiday with Christian and Bek. That was where the next phase of our HEALTHY LIVING began. We learned to make our own DAIRY FREE MILK, GREEN SMOOTHIE, and CHIA MOUSSE.

Making Chia Mousse:

Utensils:
! teaspoon, 1dessertspoon, 1 tablespoon
! 1/4 cup measure, 1 sifter or sieve
! glass or ceramic jug, 1 plastic coated hand whisk

The ingredients:
Raw Cacao powder
natural / organic vanilla essence
Natural/ organic honey
Organic Chia seeds
2 1/2 cups almond? cashew/ oat/ rice/ coconut milk
( these can be bought at the organic shop or health food department
or make your own) recipe in a recent blog

Method:
Place 21/2 cups of milk into your jug
Sift 1 dessertspoon of raw cacao powder into your jug( Whisk)
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla (Whisk)
Add 1 tablespoon honey and whisk again
Add1/3 cup chia seeds whisk again. Then whisk 3or 4 times at
intervals so mixture won't glug. Then cover and refrigerate- ready
for use. Give another mix when about to serve up.

Kids find this yummy for breakfast or as a dessert. Sometimes
I add prunes, but any kind of fruit would be nutritious and delicious .

(It's a great way to get GOOD food into children's tummies without a lot
 of fuss.)

And along with this we teamed a green smoothie.

Making a green Smoothie

Utensils  A BLENDER that is about 600 watts. Below that still works , but they break down after continual use. We have a Kenwood. My sisters have Ultra Bullet and my chiropractor uses a Ninja), some LONG GLASSES, fresh mint to serve

( Our Recipe)

A handful of ice

Natural yoghurt
crushed almonds,
maca powder
camu powder,
fresh Kale( chopped)
cup of water
Place altogether in your BLENDER and whizz it up. YUM!

Lots of recipes in "30 days smoothie challenge" (see link on "In The Kitchen" page.http://youngshope.productsthatfascinate.com ) More recipes in PINTEREST.

We love what the BLENDERS can produce.

Have FUN CREATING!

Start Small

Healthy Living With Nature

Start small. Put one thing into your life at a time. When you feel this has become part of your life and you can do it easily and you can see the benefit of what you are doing.... then start on a new thing- but not before it is part of your life.

More of the good stuff for Healthy Living.

On our journey we found it so important to stay HYDRATED. The optimum level of FILTERED water to consume is about 2 litres per person per day- plain filtered water. We use tank water which we filter twice to be sure we are getting the cleanest water possible, into our bodies.
WE STAY AWAY FROM COFFEE (and if we HAVE to DRINK COFFEE WE GRIND OUR OWN ORGANIC BREW AND PERCOLATE or STEEP IN A COFFEE POT ), ANY KIND OF SOFT DRINK, ALCOHOL. AND IF WE HAVE TO USE THESE THINGS WE CHOOSE  ORGANIC.
If you want to get away from dairy it's possible to make your own milk.
We started at first making OAT MILK which is supposed to be good for the heart. First we bought ready made, but once we realised we could make our own (and it is much cheaper) we moved to that. First we used organic ROLLED OATS. Then we found OAT GROATS at the ORGANIC SHOP.
To make the OAT MILK  we needed a BLENDER
                                                         A NUT BAG
A GLASS JAR (to store the                                                milk)
and a  JUG to milk your liquid into.
We also needed 3/4 cup of organic rolled oats or oat groats (Soaked in your water for a short while before blending)
2 1/2 cups of filtered/ distilled/ tank/ water
Place all the ingredients into your blender
and blend until liquid
Pour this liquid into your nut bag
- and milk the liquid through the bag into your jug.
Place your milk into a glass jar for storing.Keep covered and refrigerate.
You will be left with solids. These can be recycled  into curries, biscuits, cakes or into your smoothies
ORGANIC Almond, cashew coconut Milk (Flakes) can be made in the same way- Nuts to be soaked overnight and coconut flakes soaked in warm water.
We alternate the kind of milk we make. Any of these are very YUMMY. - just give a different taste to whatever you are using the milk for.
REMEMBER IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE SCRUPULOUSLY CLEAN.
It is important to use your milk quickly. It doesn't keep for more than a couple of days.  Fresh food, and made from scratch food creations, are always best eaten and not stored for long periods. This is so very important when eating "HEALTHILY!" THE FRESHER THE BETTER!
Fresh AIR keeps the head clear!

A Mother's Day Prayer

Treasures In The Garden

We would like to wish all Mother's a very Happy Mother's Day. And may all Mother's who have passed away enjoy eternal HAPPINESS.

A prayer we said for all Mothers around the world, in church this morning:

God of LOVE
listen to this prayer.
God of holy people, of Sarah,Ruth a
  Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus,
bend down your ear to this request
and bless women of our families.
Bless them with strength of Spirit,
they who have taught our children
how to stand and how to walk.
Bless them with the melody of your LOVE,
they who have shared how to speak,
how to sing and how to pray to You.
Bless them with a place at your eternal dinner table,
they who have fed and nurtured the lives
that were helpless, but embraced in their LOVE.
Bless the women of our families today,
now , in this lifetime, with good things, with health.
Bless them with joy, LOVE, laughter, and pride in our children
and surround them with many good friends.
May the women who cared for young life
be carried one day to Your Divine embrace:
there for all eternity,
to rejoice with family and friends.
This blessing and all graces, we pray,
descend upon the women of our families. Amen.

Happy Habits

Treasures In T
he Garden

Happy People

Some people are lucky enough to be full of the joys of life. And it's not always the people who are famous, money rich, attractive, slim, who are the happy ones. Real happiness

ss is something which is deep in our soul, it's attitude, it's a choice we make. Not every day is a diamond but how we help ourselves to get through our dilemmas, and our gratitude for what we have is what gets us  in a better place.

Here are some habits that can be made part of our everyday life:

DECIDE to be happy.
Embrace and cultivate the positive.

NOURISH our physical body.
Good food, sleep, exercise, fresh air, hydration are the keys.

NOURISH our .
Tap into your passion. Keep on keeping on. Love what you do.

Find "your" PEOPLE!
They'll like you for yo

u. Stay away from the negative.

Become GRATEFUL.
Be thankful for big things and small. Keep a gratitude journal.

 Don't COVET "STUFF."
STUFF will not make us happy. It may only bring us debt.

FOCUS energy on what matters most.
Forget the past. Don't fret for the future.
Don't compare ourselves to others. We are our own unique selves.

Every day is worth celebrating.
Bring out the "good" tableware, wear the nicest dress/shirt.

Donate our unique talents.
Volunteers report great happiness, better health,
connectedness to community and the wider world.

"Fall seven times, get up eight"- Japanese proverb.
Problems are only temporary setbacks, learning curves, NEVER defeat.

Let HURTS go! They only hinder happiness.
Throw away the trash
Give up chronic stress. BREATHE EASY!

Look for GOOD in all people.
Be generous with our compliments. Be kind to all whom we meet.
Lift others up.... lift up ourselves.

RELAX.......be Happy!

The Low Down On Chia seeds

Healthy Living With Nature

Mother Nature is good at doing her stuff.

Today I want to talk about CHIA SEEDS.

CHIA SEEDS -  are tiny and unassuming .
But CHIA is a pretty powerful SUPERFOOD
If we eat but a tablespoon full each day it
gives us about 3 grams of OMEGA 3 fatty
acids,6 grams of FIBRE, and oodles of
 essential VITAMINS,MINERALS and also
 ANTIOXIDANTS. And....CHIA are a great
source of PLANT PROTEIN which contain 9
essential AMINO ACIDS. All of those are very
good reasons for including CHIA in our daily diet.

We know CHIA SEEDS are are good for us.
They are either black or white, but both are
Nutritionally good. It's personal choice to which
one we would like to consume. I've used either
 and mixed both colours together.

They are:
vegetarian
Vegan
Raw Food
Gluten free
Organic
GMO Free
Chemical Free
And sustainably farmed.

CHIA SEEDS come from a glorious flowering plant,
from the "mint" family called Salvia Hispanica.
The plant is native to Guatemala and Mexico and
this food was consumed by the Aztecs and ancient Mayans.
AUSTRALIA now grows the finest CHIA right here on our
own local farms. The AUSTRALIAN CHIA Co.is Australian
owned and operated and products are sold worldwide.

CHIA SEEDS have amazing BENEFITS. They make "healthy
living" a MUST!  They may help improve DIGESTION
(fibre ) ,keep BOWELS regular lowering the risk of
IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME and COLON CANCER.
They may regulate BLOOD SUGAR  ( ideal for type 2
DIABETES ) Promote FULLNESS - help WEIGHT LOSS.
Prevent FREE RADICAL damage - help guard against
  SICKNESS and DISEASE.

Taste? They have very little TASTE - and have great
appeal for that reason. They add CRUNCH , a bit like
poppy seeds. But if we don't like texture CHIA can be
bought GROUND and as COLD PRESSED OIL.

CHIA SEEDS can be used in SALADS, SOUPS, STEWS,
SMOOTHIES, CEREAL, JUICE. Sprinkle CHIA on peanut, Vegemite
or jam toast. IT can be used to substitute eggs, as CHIA GEL, in
pancakes and baked goods. Awesome news for VEGANS or egg
allergy sufferers.

CHIA GEL to replace egg
MIX 1tablespoo CHIA SEEDS whole or ground with
3 tablespoons of water. Allow to stand for 15 minutes
or till mixture gels. Try it next time you make banana cake or pikelets.

Hydrate - it's GREAT!
