 Today I want to talk about CHIA SEEDS.

CHIA SEEDS -  are tiny and unassuming .
But CHIA is a pretty powerful SUPERFOOD
If we eat but a tablespoon full each day it 
gives us about 3 grams of OMEGA 3 fatty
acids,6 grams of FIBRE, and oodles of 
 essential VITAMINS,MINERALS and also
 ANTIOXIDANTS. And....CHIA are a great
 source of PLANT PROTEIN which contain 9
 essential AMINO ACIDS. All of those are very 
good reasons for including CHIA in our daily diet.

We know CHIA SEEDS are are good for us.
They are either black or white, but both are
 Nutritionally good. It's personal choice to which 
one we would like to consume. I've used either
 and mixed both colours together. 

They are:
vegetarian
Vegan
Raw Food
Gluten free
Organic
GMO Free
Chemical Free
And sustainably farmed.

CHIA SEEDS come from a glorious flowering plant,
 from the "mint" family called Salvia Hispanica.
The plant is native to Guatemala and Mexico and
this food was consumed by the Aztecs and ancient Mayans.

CHIA SEEDS have amazing BENEFITS. They make "healthy
living" a MUST!  They may help improve DIGESTION
 (fibre ) ,keep BOWELS regular lowering the risk of 
IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME and COLON CANCER.
They may regulate BLOOD SUGAR  ( ideal for type 2
DIABETES ) Promote FULLNESS - help WEIGHT LOSS.
Prevent FREE RADICAL damage - help guard against
  SICKNESS and DISEASE.

Taste? They have very little TASTE - and have great
 appeal for that reason. They add CRUNCH , a bit like
 poppy seeds.But if we don't like texture CHIA can be 
bought GROUND and as COLD PRESSED OIL.

CHIA SEEDS can be used in SALADS, SOUPS, STEWS,
 SMOOTHIES, CEREAL, JUICE. Sprinkle CHIA on peanut, Vegemite 
or jam toast. IT can be used to substitute eggs, as CHIA GEL, in
 pancakes and baked goods. Awesome news for VEGANS or egg 
allergy sufferers.

CHIA GEL to replace egg
MIX 1tablespoo CHIA SEEDS whole or ground with
3 tablespoons of water. Allow to stand for 15 minutes
or till mixture gels. Try it next time you make banana cake or pikelets.
